A FIRE at a youth centre is being treated by police as suspected arson.

Four fire engines were called to the blaze at Duke’s Youth centre in Park Road, St Mary Cray, Orpington, at about 7.25pm on Sunday.

On arrival, firefighters found the roller shutter of the youth centre prised open and a storage cupboard was alight.

Fire crews from Orpington, Bromley and Sidcup attended. The last appliance returned to its station at about 10pm.

Earlier in the evening another Orpington watch had driven around the area after receiving reports of youths trying to set alight to things.
