A PETROL tanker was lifted from a ditch near the Monkton roundabout on the A299 in Thanet in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to the scene by the driver at about 3.35am. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate, to be checked over.

The tanker, which was empty, was recovered and the road was clear by about 6am.
