Police used a taser gun and spray to break up a fight in a Folkestone pub.
Two police specials were injured during the disturbance and three local men were arrested.
Ch Supt Chris Hogben said it was a "very serious incident".
He said: "I will not tolerate any form of disorder, especially when my officers are threatened or injured."
Police were alerted to the fight at the Samuel Peto Wetherspoons pub in Rendezvous Street just before 11.30pm on Saturday.
Four officers from the special constabulary were first on the scene and found a group of people fighting.
One of the specials arrested a man and other people then became obstructive and aggressive.
Other police officers arrived and an incapacitant spray was used. A second man was arrested, but a third man was continuing to pose a threat to officers despite being "red dotted" by a taser and warned.
The taser was discharged and the man was arrested.
A special constable and a special inspector suffered minor injuries.
Ch Supt Hogben said: "This is a very serious incident which resulted in two of my special constables being injured.
"As illustrated in this case, the response will be swift and if offenders are not compliant, robust measures will be taken."
A 44-year-old man who was tasered was arrested for assault on police.
A 26-year-old was also arrested for assault on police and a 21 year-old for affray.
All have been bailed until March 11.
