Taxi driver in knife ordeal

TWO hoodie-wearing robbers held a 34-year-old taxi driver at knifepoint and stole cash from him.

The victim had goine to collect a passenger from Jennifer Gardens, Margate, when he saw two men wearing hoodies with the hoods up.

One got into the front of the private hire car and the other in the back. Both left their doors open.

The man in the back held what the driver believes to be a wooden handled knife to his throat while the other in the front demanded cash.

The driver handed over a wallet containing money and his attackers fled and ran off towards Cowley Rise.

Both robbers are white, slimly built, aged around 20 and about 5ft 10in tall. One wore a dark hoodie with a gold motif and the other a white hoodie decorated with a black motif or writing, and a scarf.

The driver was unhurt. The incident happened on Tuesday, February 13. Detectives are appealing for information. Anyone able to help is asked to contact Det Sgt Tristan Kuibenschadl at Margate police station on 01843 222195.
