KENT Police have named two people, one a popular teacher, killed in separate crashes on the county's roads.
Parents and pupils are grieving for 39-year-old Lisa Kent-Davies, deputy head teacher at Roseacre Junior School in Bearsted, near Maidstone.
She was due to lead a school trip, when the accident happened at Hawkwell on the A228, between Pembury and Colts Hill. Mrs Kent-Davies’ silver Mazda MX5 collided with an oncoming Toyota Hilux van before hitting a wall.
News of her death was kept from pupils initially so as not to spoil their outing, but parents have gradually had to tell their offspring about the tragedy.
One mother said: “My daughter was devastated. Mrs Kent-Davies was an absolutely marvellous teacher. She will be badly missed.”
Two motorcyclists died while riding high-powered machines in separate accidents in the Medway area.
Clifford Baker, 58, from Northfleet, died when his Suzuki 1400cc motorcycle was involved in a crash at Cuxton, near Strood, last Monday afternoon. His machine was in collision with a car before he became trapped underneath another vehicle, a Renault people carrier.
The second motorcycle fatality happened at about 4.50pm last Tuesday when a 19-year-old Gillingham man, riding a 600cc Suzuki, was involved in a collision between three cars in Pear Tree Lane, Gillingham.
The rider, who worked for replacement window firm Supaglazing, died at the scene. No other details about the dead teenager have so been released.
Anyone who saw the crashes or the circumstances leading up to them is asked to contact the police witness line on 01622 798538.
