A potentially fatal cocktail of drugs has been discovered in the body of a 14-year-old boy found dead at a Gravesend home.

Ed Barry's body was discovered at an address in Parrock Street in November.

A toxicology report has now revealed both methodone and diazepam in the youngster's system.

In a statement his parents, Patrick and Justine Barry said: "Following our son Edward's death, his blood and other samples were tested for the presence of drugs, including alcohol.

"The subsequent toxicology report concluded that methadone was detected at a concentration that lies within the range associated with fatalities in people with little or no tolerance to the drug.

"We are also aware that diazepam was detected. Whilst these results give us an indication of why he died, we will wait for the Coroner to decide the cause of his death."

Kent Police's Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bishop said: "As the family have detailed, we have received the results of the toxicology report which will contribute to the impending Coroner's inquest. We will continue to work with the family through this difficult time."

The date for the inquest has yet to be announced.
