A teenager fled after a stranger grabbed her from behind as she walked down a quiet village street.
The 13-year-old girl, who was left shaken, struggled to free herself from her attacker's grasp at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
It started as the girl was walking along The Moor, past the Eight Bells pub in Hawkhurst, when a man got out of a nearby car.
She was grabbed from behind and struggled until the man let her go. She then fled to a friends house, as the car headed in the direction of Hawkhurst crossroads.
The man is described as white, aged 40-50, fat, with a beard and shaved head.
He was wearing a checked blue shirt and dark jeans with holes in the knees. The car is described as dark, medium-sized, with a large black and tan dog in the back, possibly a German Shepherd or similar breed.
PC Jon Saxby said: "Thankfully the girl was not hurt but she was very shaken up by the experience.
"This is an extremely unusual incident and I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen anything, no matter how trivial, to contact police."
