Teenage boy killed in crash on A258 at Swingate

A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a youngster was killed in a crash near Dover.

Police were called to the A258 Dover to Deal road at around 11pm yesterday after a Ford Fiesta left the road at Swingate.

There were four boys in the car, including a 17-year-old, who was a back seat passenger. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and the other passengers were taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford where they were treated for minor injuries.

A 17-year-old boy from Walmer has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He will be interviewed by police later today.

The A258 was closed for around seven hours to allow police investigations to take place.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the car being driven before the crash is asked to contact the serious collision investigation unit at Kent Police on 01622 798538.
