Teenage girl in road tragedy

KENT Police have appealed for witnesses after a 17-year-old girl pedestrian died following a collision with a lorry on a business park.

The accident happened on the Medway City Estate at Strood. The girl, from Chatham, was taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital where strenuous efforts were made to save her but she died later from her injuries.

The girl has not yet been named. Police said that her family was being informed.

Following the accident, which happened on Wednesday, police closed St Anthony's Way, the main access road to the estate, for some three hours while the incident was investigated.
