A 19-year-old German girl has appeared in court charged with attempting to smuggle £500,000 worth of cocaine through the Port of Ramsgate into the UK.

She was arrested after approximately 11kg of the Class A drug was found in the rear quarter panels of a VW Golf car by officers from the UK Border Agency.

The teenager, who arrived in the UK from Ostende on Saturday, withheld her plea at Dover Magistrates on Monday. Jasmin Bollinger, of Freiburg, Germany.

has been remanded in custody until Thursday May 8.
