Teenager attacked with metal chain

POLICE are appealing for information after a brutal assault on a 16-year-old teenager who they believe was attacked and beaten with a chain. The attack took place while the victim was playing football at the back of Queenborough Primary School on Sheppey.

The teenager, who comes from Rosemary Avenue, Minster, remembers nothing about the incident apart from being on a stretcher and being taken to hospital. He was treated for facial, neck and back injuries and detained in hospital overnight for observation.

It is thought the attack was carried out by one person. Police are appealing for witnesses. They believe the incident took place in Edward Road on Sunday between 11am and 7pm.

Swale police spokesman Sally Farrell said the youth was the victim of a nasty assault and his injuries indicated he had been hit with a metal chain or something similar.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call police on 01795 477055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
