A 19-year-old man needed hospital treatment after being attacked in Margate on his way home. He was walking towards Trinity Square at around 2.30am on Sunday when he was approached by an older man who asked him for money.
The teenager, who lives in Margate gave him 60p and said it was all he had. The man then asked for more money. When the teenager refused, he was struck two or three times on the head with what is believed to have been a glass bottle the man had concealed in his sleeve.
The victim fell to the floor and was kicked several times. The attacker then walked off with a young woman who had stood nearby during the attack.
The couple were last seen walking up Northdown Road, towards Palm Bay. The victim was taken to hospital where he was given stitches for a cut lip, and treated for head and facial injuries.
CCTV tapes are being checked, but police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The attacker is in his mid to late 20s, about 5ft 5in tall with a skinhead haircut. He was wearing black trousers and shoes.
The woman was in her early to mid 20s, about 5ft 2in tall with short brown hair. She was wearing a dark leather jacket, black trousers and shoes. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Ray Butterwick on Thanet 222024.
