KENT Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager died when the car he was travelling in was in collision with a van. The accident happened on the A229, close to the Great House public house at Hawkhurst, near Tunbridge Wells, at around 7.20pm on Wednesday.
The victim was in a green Peugeot 205 travelling between Cranbrook and Hawkhurst that collided with a white Ford Transit van travelling in the opposite direction. He has not yet been named but police say he was from the local area.
The driver of the van had to be freed from the vehicle and was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells, along with the three other occupants of the car. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
The road was closed for around eight hours to enble the emergency services to deal with the incident.
Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw the vehicles in the area before the incident to contact them.
