Teenagers killed in crash named

THE two teenagers killed in a road accident in a Kent village at the weekend have been identified.

The crash between a red Ford Fiesta and a BMW 323i saloon happened shortly after 1pm on Saturday on the Hamstreet Road in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford.

Gemma Croft, 17, from the Ashford area, was the front seat passenger in the Ford Fiesta and she died at the scene.

Gary Smith, the 18-year-old driver of the Ford, also from the Ashford area, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Miss Croft's brother, 16-year-old Danny Croft, was a rear seat passenger and sustained serious injuries in the accident. He was taken to William Harvey Hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

A fourth boy who was a back seat passenger in the Ford Fiesta sustained minor injuries.

The two rear seat passengers and the three occupants of the BMW - including a baby in a car seat - were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
