Teenager's ordeal at hands of knifeman

A MAN threatened a teenager with a knife and demanded he hand over “everything you’ve got” in a street attack in Margate. The victim, an 18 year old who lives in the town, handed over 15 cigarettes.

Police say the teenager and a friend then got on a bus which stopped nearby and the attacker ran off.

A police spokeswoman said: “The vicitm and a friend were walking along the seafront when two men in their early 20s asked them for a cigarette, which was handed over. They carried on their journey into Cecil Square and were waiting at the bus stop when they were approached by the same people again. This time they refused a request for cigarettes.

“ That is when the offender pulled a knife from under his jacket and made the demands. Fortunately, the bus arrived before any money was handed over.”

One offender has short, fair hair and wore a baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt, trousers and silver trainers. His accomplice wore a beanie hat and a puffa jacket, dark jeans and chunky lace-up shoes.

Any witnesses to the attack that took place on Tuesday at about 8pm are being asked to telephone Det Con Ray Butterwick 01843 222024.
