Temperatures in Kent are forecast to rise today leading to hopes it may bring an end to four days of travel chaos.
Southeastern bosses say train staff and colleagues from Network Rail are working round the clock to keep trains moving.
The operator is planning to run a revised timetable, as temperatures are expected to rise to 6C, having been below freezing for much of the week.
Winds are also expected to be less severe at about 10mph at most and scattered showers are forecast.
Southeastern say the severe weather has damaged a number of trains, and staff will be making extra checks on all routes.
A spokesman said: "We will do all we can to keep the network running to as near a normal timetable as possible.
"We'll have extra teams on the ground over the weekend at key locations across the network, working hard to reduce the risk of further disruption as the colder weather begins to retreat.
"While we work to restore a full service over the coming days, there may be some short notice cancellations and changes to the length of trains on our routes as we make repairs."
Yesterday rains were thrown into chaos as thick ice prevented services from running.
