THE Yamaha 125cc Teos has been chosen as best scooter in the coveted Auto Express Product Honours 2002 awards.

The awards take into account styling, practicality and overall running costs including purchase price.

Yamaha, better known in the UK for their sports motorcycles, are also serious about scooters and the Teos, designed and built in Europe with Japanese quality control, is one of their coolest. It is priced at £2,599 on the road.

Weighing only 113kg and with a wheelbase of just 1.3m, the Teos makes short work of tiresome traffic, but just as importantly, does it in style with ease. The electric start liquid cooled, four-stroke motor is the same powerful unit that can be found in the larger Yamaha YP125 Majesty. Mated to a smooth automatic transmission, it gives the Teos a lively performance.

With no gears to worry about, just twist and go - acceleration is rapid. The tubeless tyres are fitted to 12 inch wheels running in telescopic forks with 90mm of suspension travel.
