Could this be the world's most expensive tin of beans?

Michelle Gulliver was astonished when Tesco's online shopping service tried to charge her £1,028 for a tin of Cross and Blackwell's The Full Monty baked bean meal.

The married mother-of-two ordered the can of food, which normally costs £1.28, along with the rest of her weekly shop. But she only discovered the severely-inflated price when Tesco rang her to say her payment had been declined just hours before the delivery was due to arrive at her home three days later.

Michelle, 29, of Mercury Close, Borstal said: "It is funny - but my only concern is if there had been enough money in my account the payment would have gone through and it would have taken me weeks to get it back from Tesco."

A spokesman for Tesco said: "We are extremely sorry. This was an isolated error which was quickly spotted and resolved. We will be in touch to offer a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience this caused her."
