It's a far cry from lycra all-in-ones - bobbled hats and
Elizabethan ruffs are what some of the performers at this year’s
Olympics will be wearing.

KentOnline can reveal an exclusive sneak-peak at the designs for
outfits to be worn by acrobats performing at London 2012's medal
ceremonies.

For the past two months, sixth form textiles students at
The

Folkestone Academy have been taking part in a series of workshops
to

create 48 pairs of trousers for The National Youth Theatre
members.

Menna Buss, head of textiles at Folkestone Academy, said: "It’s
been hard work, but it’s certainly going to be worthwhile seeing
that on the big screen and aired to the world. It’s been brilliant
to get our students involved. It’s once in a lifetime really."

The designs are inspired by urban street culture and
Elizabethan

period costumes.

Dannell Banton, 16, who has taken part in the
workshops, said "It’s an

honour that we were given the opportunity, we never thought we’d
be

involved with something like the Olympics."
