MORE livestock than ever before will be displayed by members of Young Farmers' clubs in Kent at this year's County Show.

Around 500 YFC members will be showing 300 cattle and sheep, 24 pens of pigs and an assortment of 80 small animals from nine school clubs and four open clubs.

Earlier this year, the school farm units received a large financial boost, each getting £1,200.

Half came from the Kent County Agricultural Society and the rest from the South East Economic Development Agency.

This is the second year the agricultural society has given assistance to the school farm units, which are under financial pressure.
