The Queen has told the nation "coronavirus will not overcome us" in her first ever televised Easter speech.
She also declared that "we need Easter more than ever" as the world seeks to cope with the crisis.
In the special broadcast, recorded at Windsor Castle on Good Friday, the monarch said: "This year, Easter will be different for many of us, but by keeping apart we keep others safe.
"But Easter isn’t cancelled; indeed, we need Easter as much as ever.
"The discovery of the risen Christ on the first Easter Day gave his followers new hope and fresh purpose, and we can all take heart from this.
"We know that Coronavirus will not overcome us."
More than 170 people have died in Kent from the virus; and the Queen addressed the nationwide figure of 9,875 by saying: "As dark as death can be... light and life are greater."
