POLICE say a theft at Hawkinge cemetery near Folkestone at the weekend could easily have been prevented.

A handbag was left on view in a car parked up in Aerodrome Road on Sunday at about 11.30am. It took the thief five minutes to smash the window and run off with the bag which contained cash and cosmetics.

Police at Folkestone have renewewd their appeal for people to keep valuables left in vehicles out of sight.
