Andy Hessenthaler has insisted there is no need to panic, despite seven games without a win.
“I don’t think there’s any need to panic,” said the Gills boss (pictured). “If you start doing that then you will cause yourselves problems.
“If we get a run of two or three wins, then the league table looks better.
“At the moment, it doesn’t look great but I’m sure the other teams down there are saying the same thing.
“It’s a frustrating start, we’ve lost two games and drawn three. We need to make sure we don’t lose too many games over the next five or six and pick up three or four wins.”
All of Gillingham’s league goals have come from set pieces, but Hessenthaler said: “I’m not bothered. The stats show that there are more goals scored from set pieces than anything else over a season.
“Set pieces for and against are important. If we win the game 1-0 from a corner or free-kick then great. If it comes that way it’s three points as far as I’m concerned. It doesn’t have to be pretty, open play.”
