ANDREA Walsh’s love of pigs has landed her a new family – all 17 of them.
First there were two young sows, Bramley and Bramble, and then along came toy boy Giles.
Now they have produced two litters, totalling 14 piglets, whose colourful markings identify them as the rare kunekune breed, which originates from New Zealand.
Andrea, 19, of Black Robin Lane, Kingston, near Canterbury, keeps the pigs on a plot of land she rents locally.
She works at Ark Aquatics at Wyevale Garden Centre, Chartham Hatch, but all her spare time is now spent looking after her new family.
Andrea said: “I love pigs and when I saw an ad in a local store, I just had to check it out.
“I didn’t plan to breed them but I had the chance to buy Giles. Now, at just seven months old, he has become something of a toy boy. The piglets are absolutely gorgeous with really unusual markings.”
But these little piggies will definitely not be going to market.
Andrea explained: “They are not very good for meat.”
