POLICE in Thanet are hunting a thief who snatched a handbag from the invalid carriage of an 87-year-old woman in Broadstairs. The victim’s elderly husband chased after the youth while she telephoned the police.

The snatch happened outside their home in Gladstone Road but the couple say they had been followed from the town centre. A 17-year-old youth from Westgate, near Maragte, was later detained by police. He was released on police bail until February 2.
