Thieves steal from special needs children

YOUNGSTERS at a playgroup have been left devastated after callous thieves stole their valuable toys.

Children at the White Road Pre-School at Chatham, many of whom have special needs, have been deprived of prams, tricycles and toys cars.

The theft could have happened any time between Friday, January 17, and Monday, January 21, when the toys were left outside.

Thieves made a makeshift ramp to climb over a 6ft fence to get at the items which were stored at the back of the White Road Community Centre.

Two metal tricycles, a toy car and two prams were stolen in the incident - all valuable items for the children, some of whom have autism and dyspraxia.

Helen Morrish, the supervisor, said: "The toys are really important for the children, and not just as toys. Many children use them for mobility reasons and to improve balance and co-ordination."
