Third trial for body-in-suitcase suspect

A man accused of the body-in-the-suitcase murder of teenager Terry Edmonds is on Monday due to face a third trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

Two juries have previously failed to reach verdicts on whether homeless Philip Bell killed the 17-year-old.

Bell, a former removal man, is alleged to have strangled Miss Edmonds, sexually assaulted her and hidden her body in the suitcase at a disused car park next to Tunbridge Wells railway station.

Police found the body 12 days after she disappeared on Bank Holiday Monday, April 17 2006. Miss Edmonds lived at a nearby hostel.
