Three people have been taken to hospital after a serious car crash which saw a major road shut for nine hours.
Emergency services were called to the A249, near the Stockbury Roundabout, at 10.05pm yesterday (February 25).
It follows a crash police say was between a silver Land Rover Discovery and a black BWM 1 series near the Chalky Lane junction
The north-bound carriageway between the M20 junction near Maidstone and the M2 at Stockbury was shut for nine hours to allow accident investigation work to be carried out.
Police say a passenger in the BMW, a man in his 30s, was flown to a London hospital for treatment to “serious injuries”.
Meanwhile, a passenger from the Land Rover, a female in her 30s, also sustained “serious injuries” and was taken to a local hospital.
A spokesperson for the force added: “Both remain under the care of medical professionals but are in a stable condition.
“Their next of kin have been made aware.”
A drive of a vehicle was also taken to a local hospital for treatment for “minor injuries”, the police added.
The road reopened just after 7am, and traffic has since returned to normal.
Now police investigating the crash are appealing for those who witnessed it to come forward.
