A brave Medway youngster is having a huge party to celebrate beating cancer.
Nine-year-old Keller Williams, of Avery Way, Allhallows, fought a three-year battle against leukaemia, but has now beaten it.
They have now made it their mission to raise money for the hospitals which helped save his life and have a party planned, which they hope will raise hundreds of pounds.
Keller’s proud dad Ricki, 39, said: “We want to raise as much money as possible and hope that people will come along and support the event and have fun at the same time.”
Keller has been through years of treatment at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, in London, and Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham.
Last September his family were told the only treatment that might save his life, was a bone marrow transplant combined with radiotherapy.
Ricki added: “There were three people in Germany who were a perfect match for Keller and he was given a transplant last
September.
“Unfortunately Keller got a lung infection in December and had to spend six weeks in intensive care. He only came off the major life support machine on Christmas Eve, so he missed out on Christmas.”
It was then touch and go for Keller with a further five weeks of life-support treatment but the youngest of four siblings came home in February.
Ricki said: “Keller is a remarkable young boy who has never moaned about his problems and always thinks of others first.
He has talked so much about planning his party.
He raised £2,000 by putting up collection bottles around the village as he told us he wanted to give something back to the hospitals that helped save his life.
“We are really proud of him."
Keller’s party is being held on the grounds of his school, Allhallows Primary School, in Avery Way, Allhallows, from noon-5pm on Saturday, September 13.
Ricki added: “There will be so much going on.
“We’ve got bouncy castles, a bungee run, Sumo wrestling, a gladiator game, rodeo bulls, a burger and ice cream van, a beer tent, disco, stalls and loads more fun."
