A club goer will be scarred for life after a frenzied and unprovoked glassing attack.
The 40-year-old victim, Ian McBurdis, needed more than 40 stitches to his face and head after a bottle was smashed on a bar in a Tunbridge Wells nightclub and then thrust into his face.
Now Kevin Eastwood, 29, formerly of Branbridges Road, East Peckham, must serve six-and-a-half years for inflicting grievous bodily harm on December 23 last year.
Maidstone Crown Court heard Eastwood glassed his victim before repeatedly punching him until he was unconscious.
Police identified Eastwood from CCTV and he was later arrested.
Judge Jeremy Gold QC said: "This was a savage attack on a defenceless man."
Det Insp Chris Benson of Kent Police said: "This was a horrific and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply enjoying a night out with friends.
"He sustained numerous deep and lengthy cuts to his face, but I don’t doubt the mental scars he must have suffered are just as damaging.
"I hope this sentence gives the victim the courage to move on from this ordeal and that it serves as a warning to others as to the gravity with which the courts view such offences, especially where bottles are used as weapons."
