The Met Office issued the yellow alert yesterday, saying there was a chance of disruption and flooding between 4am today and 5am tomorrow.
Rain has already fallen heavily in parts of Kent this morning, and has even led to flooding on the A2.
The Met Office says there is a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
Trains could also be delayed and cancelled in cases of flooding or lighting strikes.
There is also a small chance that some communities could become cut off by flooded roads, and it is possible that powercuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
