A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has come into force across the county.
Kent, which already has an alert for 60mph winds, is now expected to see heavy rain which could cause flooding.
This means there are now two yellow weather warnings in place for today.
The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning from now until 8pm this evening and says heavy showers and storms are expected and may cause some flooding and travel disruptions.
There could also be damage to buildings and structures from lightning strikes.
Motorists have been told to expect driving conditions to be affected by spray, standing water and/or hail. This could lead to delays on the roads and train services.
Met Office bosses also say people may see short-term loss of power.
There is also a yellow weather warning for winds with gales of up to 60mph expected to hit the coast.
