A weather warning for Kent which threatened to dampen Jubilee spirits this weekend has been lifted.
The Met Office issued the yellow warning on Saturday, telling people heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected for most of the day Sunday.
But, it has lifted the warning for Kent this morning, giving the all clear for those planning street parties or other outdoor events for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
Bad weather conditions were expected to start at just after midnight and people are told to expect difficult driving conditions, disrupted transport and possibly flooding until around 6pm.
The warning follows on from a similar one issued on Saturday, which warned of heavy showers and frequent lightning.
Speaking about the late Saturday and Sunday weather warning, a Met Office spokesman said: "After a dry start to the evening, further showers, locally heavy with thunderstorms, are expected to spread from the south during the evening, merging into longer spells of thundery rain as it moves north, leading to surface water flooding in places as well as the potential for impacts from lightning.
"The band of rain will clear to the north on Sunday morning with some drier conditions following for a while but further showers, locally heavy with thunderstorms, will develop during the afternoon.
"Any showers will gradually die out during the evening although isolated showers could affect southern counties overnight.
"The Met Office has issued a yellow warning to cover the risk of seeing impacts which could include surface water flooding, difficult driving conditions, isolated lightning damage to structures and infrastructure including power outages and delays to trains."
The Chatham Maritime and Food Festival, which was meant to go ahead Saturday morning , was forced to cancel last minute because of the weather.
A statement on Facebook read: "We are sorry to announce that we have made the decision to not open today (Saturday).
"This is due to high wind speeds on the basin. We hate to do this but the safety of everyone is paramount.
"If there are any changes to Sunday's schedule we will let you know in the morning. Otherwise see you all tomorrow for the dragon boat racing."
Also, changes were made to Chatham's Platinum Jubilee River Pageant. Because of the weather conditions, there was no official boat formation although people were told that boats may still make their way along the river, "so be sure to give them a wave".
The weather is set to turn much drier at the beginning of next week, with a few showers expected in places, before some heavier rain in the evenings.
Kent bas been bursting at the seams with proms, concerts, carnivals and fetes to celebrate The Queen's historic 70 years on the throne and this is alongside the hundreds of smaller street parties and community lunches that are being organised.
