YOUNGSTERS and teachers at St Nicholas-at-Wade Primary School have plenty of reason to cheer, after celebrating their best ever Ofsted inspection.

Every area of the school's performance was judged to be 'outstanding' by inspectors who visited earlier this year.

The remarkable result was announced in an Ofsted report last week, in which Ofsted said the teachers provided a "high quality education and care for its pupils" and that the "key reason for the school's success is the professionalism, commitment and hard work of staff".

Children have a "thirst for learning", "achieve outstandingly well" and develop their education through fascinating themes and tasks, such as designing a Victorian mode of transport and staging an 'evacuation' to Dover while learning about World War Two.

Adrian Taylor, head teacher, said: "Everyone is delighted by Ofsted's findings and our achievements have motivated us to make sure we live up to our outstanding rating in the future.

"As always, there's room for improvement and we certainly won't be resting on our laurels."

St Nicholas-at-Wade's 208 pupils were all sent a letter by Ofsted, explaining the inspectors' findings.

It read: "You were all so welcoming and seemed very happy. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all the exciting things you do in school and seeing the displays of your work."

Pupils were also told: "You are really enthusiastic about your learning and your behaviour is outstanding, so you are able to concentrate and work very hard."
