Town centre to shut for Jade's funeral

SNODLAND town centre will be closed to traffic this morning for the funeral of Jade Kenyon, the 17-year-old girl who died last week after touching a live railway line.

Jade, who lived in Covey Hall Road, Snodland, had been swimming before visiting a friend in Cuxton and was on her way home with friend Corinne Flynn when the tragedy happened.

Jade, who was studying AS levels in sociology, art, law and psychology, had been planning to go to university.

The following roads will be closed from 8.30am to 10am: Covey Hall Road, Lee Road, Holborough Road, Malling Road, St Katherine's Lane, Ostlers Court, High Street, Rocfort Road, Oxford Street and Sharnal Lane.

The following roads will be closed from 10.30am to 11.30am: Malling Road, between the junctions with St Katherine's Lane and High Street, Rocfort Road, Oxford Street, Sharnal Lane, Bramley Road, Chapel Road, High Street, Constitution Hill, Birling Road, Tomlin Close, Woodlands Avenue, Stevens Close and Cemetery Road.
