SEVERE disruption has been caused to Southeastern's evening peak services in and out of London Victoria railway station.
This is due to a lineside fire in a scrapyard at Wandsworth Road, where London Fire Brigade has advised that acetylene gas cylinders on site may pose a danger for the next 24 hours.
Consequently Southeastern services have been suspended between London Victoria and Brixton.
Arrangements are being made to divert services to London Blackfriars, Herne Hill and Bromley South stations, and Transport for London is assisting with passing Southeastern passengers on Tube trains and buses.
It is understood that Eurostar services in and out of London have also been affected and while Southeastern is trying to assist in providing onward travel for people trying to reach London, it is unable to help with those travelling out of the capital. (Eurostar press office - 0207 922 4494)
Some Southern services in the Peckham area may also have been affected. Live updates are being posted on Southeastern's website: www.southeasternrailway.co.uk
Passengers are advised to check with this site or to contact National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 before making their journeys. Southeastern is deploying extra staff at key stations to assist with travel arrangements.
The following service alterations are being made:
Ramsgate/Dover to London Victoria via Chatham willl terminate and restart at Herne Hill.
Faversham to London Victoria will terminate and re-start at Bromley South
Orpington to London Victoria will be diverted from Herne Hill to and from London Blackfriars
Dartford to London Victoria will be suspended
Ashford to London Victoria Maidstone East will be diverted from Herne Hill to and from London Blackfriars
