Frustrated drivers were caught up in delays twice today in two separate crashes.
At around 8.20am a two-car collision on the M25 caused gridlock.
Police dealt with the crash, which involved two vehicles on the anti-clockwise carriageway at junction three of the M25.
The collision saw lanes two and three closed, with lane one open.
Traffic was queueing back to junction 4 for about 30 minutes, but the road was soon cleared and no-one was taken to hospital.
Just a couple of hours later a lorry shed its load on the nearby A2, causing heavy traffic on the coastbound road.
The lorry, which was carrying soil, collided with the central reservation and spilt its load at 12.20pm, just before the new Gravesend junction.
Lanes two and three were closed to allow the Highways Agency to clear the scene and recover the lorry.
A spokesman said: "There is a fair amount of clear-up to do and it's unclear how long it will take at present.
"We are advising drivers to avoid the area."
