THE 17-year-old-girl who died after being electrocuted by live railway track in the county has been identified.
Jade Kenyon, who was from the Snodland area, was taking a shortcut from Cuxton to North Halling after missing the last train home when she fell on to the track at Halling.
She went onto the track to collect her shoe, which had fallen off during her walk home to Snodland.
A crew from Medway ambulance station and the British Transport Police were called to the track at 11.15pm when Jade was pronounced dead.
Another 17-year-old girl suffered minor burns that were treated at Medway Maritime Hospital. She is now back home recovering from shock.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "While this is an extremely tragic accident, it highlights the dangers of trespassing on the railways."
Insp Roy Kingston, of Kent Police, added: "It really is important that people stay away from these railway tracks.
"Here in the South East, the live third rail is carrying a high voltage. Getting close to it can be lethal.
"We are awaiting the outcome of this investigation as to what happened but it does reinforce the dangers of getting near the track."
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious.
