Charlton maintained their 100 per cent record in League 1 by thrashing Tranmere 4-0 on Saturday.
The Addicks stay top of the pile after two headed goals by Lloyd Sam and further strikes by Jose Semedo and Nicky Bailey gave Phil Parkinson's side a thoroughly deserved victory.
The three points set a club record for Charlton, who have never before won their first five games of a season.
Sam set the Addicks on their way on 24 minutes when he rose to head home Jonjo Shelvey's deep cross and Semedo doubled the lead just two minutes later when Semedo raced clear from Burton's backheel to beat Luke Daniels in the Rovers goal.
The third goal arrived to end any hopes of a Tranmere fightback four minutes into the second half with Kelly Youga this time providing the cross from which Sam headed in.
Skipper Bailey added even more gloss to the scoreline in bizarre circumstances in the 68th minute when he sent what looked like a cross into the box only for Shelvey's pressure seemingly to confuse Daniels, who allowed the ball to creep into the net.
Charlton: Elliot, Richardson, Youga, Llera, Semedo (Spring 75), Dailly, Bailey, Shelvey (Tuna 83), Racon, Sam, Burton.
