It will see dense and freezing fog patches in places with visibility less than 100 metres for some to begin with today.

Drivers have been told to expect slower journey times than usual with delays also to bus and train services.

However, early fog is expected to soon lift and clear by 10am.

Road users are advised to avoid travel where possible for this period.

But for those bracing the roads this morning the Met Office suggests motorists drive very slowly with dipped headlights.

Visibility is expected to be reduced for much of the morning.

It also says to keep an eye on your speed as fog can give the illusion of moving in slow motion.

Drivers should use their fog lights but remember to turn them off as visibility improves.

They are also advised to avoid hanging onto tail lights and watch out for freezing fog which is made of water droplets that freeze on contact with objects.
