Travellers site granted

ABUSE was hurled at councillors by angry residents after planning permission was granted to develop a travellers site in Northfleet.

Around 70 objectors turned out at the regulatory board meeting to find out the fate of the site in Springhead Road.

Despite concerns raised by Royal Naval Association Chairman John Richards, Cllr Leslie Christie and shouts from the public gallery, planning permission was granted to allow the land to be developed into a gypsy site.

But things were looking up for other sleep deprived residents after the board turned down an application by Sainsbury's in Pepper Hill to allow deliveries to take place until 1am.
