A trial into four members of a family accused of killing father-of-five Jack Treeby and attempting to murder his brother Gary is due to start today.

Their brother Bill Treeby, 50, his wife Charity Treeby, 51, and their sons Billy Treeby, 29, and George Treeby, 23, all of Queen Street, Paddock Wood, deny murdering Jack Treeby, attempting to murder Gary Treeby and conspiracy to murder John Treeby.

They also deny causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Gary Treeby and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on Jack Treeby Jnr.

A panel of prospective jurors was chosen at Maidstone Crown Court yesterday and 12 are due to be sworn in.

Jack Treeby (pictured), 43, from Rainham, died from multiple head and chest injuries after being knocked down in Quarry Road, Tovil, on December 27 last year.

Gary Treeby sustained a gun shot wound. A third man suffered minor injuries after he was also struck by a vehicle.
