A sister has described the moment one brother was run down and killed and another shot outside her Maidstone home.

Mary Treeby, of Quarry Road, Maidstone, was giving evidence yesterday at the trial of another brother, Bill Treeby and his family.

Bill Treeby, Charity Treeby, Billy Treeby and George Treeby, from Paddock Wood, deny murdering Jack Treeby, attempting to murder Gary Treeby and Jack Treeby Jnr, causing grievous bodily harm with intent to Gary Treeby and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on Jack Treeby Jnr.

Mary Treeby denied that her brothers Jack and Gary had guns at the time of the alleged attack.

“Jack didn’t have a gun,” she told the jury. “He didn’t fire a gun. Gary didn’t have a gun. If I saw a gun in their hands, I would tell you.

“There was only one lot of guns fired and that is what the defendants did.”

Miss Treeby also denied seeing either Jack or Gary armed with a spanner.

She said she presumed her brother Bill Treeby was in the driver’s seat of the Range Rover that ran down Jack, but admitted she could have been confused and he might have been driving a Mondeo which was also at the scene.

She claimed she heard Bill Treeby say: “Come on, give it to them now.”

Miss Treeby added: “I know what I heard and I know what I saw. I didn’t say I saw him, I said I heard him.

“I am here to tell the truth. Jack didn’t kill himself, did he?”

The trial continues.
