The trial of a Kent police officer accused of misusing the national computer and database records over several years could be transferred out of the county.
Matthew Jewell, prosecuting, applied for the transfer of Eileen Arthurs' case at Maidstone Crown Court.
It was suggested, he said, that the 52-year-old PC be tried at Winchester Crown Court instead.
Judge Jeremy Carey adjourned consideration of the matter for a week.
Arthurs, of Wansunt Road, Bexley, was, therefore, not asked to enter a plea to a charge of misconduct in public office in Gravesend between December 2003 and March this year.
Bail was continued.
