FRIENDS and neighbours of a Kent woman who died after trying to save her daughter from the sea in Australia have been leaving tokens of their grief on her doorstep.

Candles, sweets and flowers have been placed outside the house 37-year-old Jacqueline Robinson shared with her partner and two children in Crescent Road, Ramsgate.

Ms Robinson tried to pull 12-year-old Stephanie from the surf in Queensland with her partner Kevin Lewis, after she got into difficulties. Stephanie was said to be in a stable condition in hospital today.

All three were rescued by passers-by but the mother-of-two collapsed and died shortly afterwards. Neighbours and friends have described Ms Robinson as a "superwoman' and a 'lovely bubbly person."

Ms Robinson and Mr Lewis are said to have worked together running three bars in the centre of Ramsgate. They are thought to have gone to Australia for a family wedding and a holiday.

The tragedy happened in the same spot where two Sunshine Coast brothers drowned after being washed from rocks while fishing two years ago.

In April 2001, Peter Cashen, 28, and his brother Eric, 22, were swept from the rocks. The beach, 100 miles north of Brisbane, is a favourite spot with tourists although it can only be reached by off-road vehicles.
