POLICE were called to the A28 at Chilham, near Ashford, this morning after a lorry left the road and ploughed into a ditch.
The 15 tonne lorry was loaded with 25 tonnes of hardcore, and a JCB digger had to be brought to the scene to clear the load before the lorry could be recovered. The JCB was able to do this from the field.
Police media spokeswoman Rosy Alexander said: "The road was then closed for a recovery vehicle to remove the lorry. However, this was not possible and the road re-opened again at 8.45am while a larger recovery vehicle was being brought to the scene. This is still ongoing."
Police say the driver of the lorry was not injured.
