KENT Police want to speak the driver of a dark blue lorry about a two-car crash which claimed the life of a 38-year-old motorist. The collision occurred on the Thanet Way, between the Minster and Monkton roundabouts, near Margate, on Monday just before 8am.

A dog walker has contacted the police to say he saw a lorry pull in and immediately pull out of a parking area on the road before the crash.

The man who died, who has not yet been identified, was trapped inside his silver Citroen after it landed on its roof.

He was released by fire crews and taken to Margate’s QEQM hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A dark grey Mazda was also involved in the crash and landed in a nearby field. The driver, 39-year-old local man, was taken to the QEQM with cuts and bruising.

The road between Prospect Inn and Monkton was closed while officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit investigated the crash, which happened on the London-bound carriageway.
