WHEN a couple sold everything to buy a former Barnados home 40 years ago it heralded the beginnings of a charity which is still thriving.

The building was Kenward House in Yalding and July 3, 1968, marked the beginning of the Kenward Trust.

As Christians, Ray and Violet Sinden, who have since died, wanted to help others which is why they sold up and began running the charity.

On Sunday, July 13, the Kenward Trust, which has now expanded to more than 100 employees, will celebrate its anniversary with a cathedral service.
