Tuned in...

with drivetime DJ Andy Walker

They say February is one of the dullest months of the year – well it’s my mum’s birthday, so not true. And the snow has made Kent look beautiful – apart from the decapitated snowman I saw at the side of a road on my drive into the kmfm studios.

On air we are giving you even more reasons to be listening to Kent’s kmfm with The Music You Want and a chance to see rock band ******* in ******. It does not give you much at the moment but I am sworn to secrecy. I can reveal more at the beginning of March. If you can work that out feel free to email me at andy@kmfm.co.uk and I may be allowed to send you a smiley face if you are quite near the right guess.

Next weekend, on Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26, we are giving you the chance to win your way in to see one of the biggest male groups in the country – JLS! kmfm will be playing their biggest hits and giving you chances to win concert tickets to see the boys at the O2 in Greenwich on Sunday, March 25. It is sold out. Good luck.

X Factor’s Matt Cardle came to Kent the other week to perform an exclusive and intimate gig just for kmfm and 10 of his biggest fans. This created a lot of Twitter reaction and hardcore fans turned up outside the studios to catch a glimpse of the man himself. You can hear Matt’s set at www.kmfm.co.uk. Thousands of us watched him live every week on the reality show and thought he sounds good, but when you are feet away from him and hearing his vocals in their purest form, his voice is superb live.

Be listening for More of the Music You Want during your work day and drive home. Kelly Clarkson’s new hit Stronger is becoming one of the most requested songs by you. She’s back after a few years away and has been working with song writers who have written songs for Westlife, Britney and Lilly Allen. Many of you spotted her singing the American national anthem at the Super Bowl a couple of weeks back. She was rather good wasn’t she?

There have been a few comments about that, “really melodic, slow song” from you which you are giving positive reviews to. It is Gotye – pronounced go-tea-yay – and Somebody That I Used To Know. The song has been around for a couple of years but is only just being sold to the UK. The song is about his past relationships. If you like his voice, you may like his album, Making Mirrors.

Staying on the theme of big tunes, I think Jessie J has just given us her biggest pop tune to date. Domino has you turning it up loud and singing along with the occasion.al dance move that you will only reveal behind closed doors and in front of your mirror.

Speak to you on your way home.
