The driver of this car was lucky to escape with only minor injuries after it flipped on to its roof.

The accident happened near the entrance of the Medway City Estate, Strood, near Rochester shortly after 3.30pm on Friday.

Police closed the Medway Tunnel to clear diesel from the road and to remove the 4x4 vehicle. Two passengers also suffered minor injuries.

Two cars passing the scene of the accident half an hour later on the westbound carriageway of Vanguard Way were also involved in a shunt. No injuries were reported.

Police and ambulance were called to both incidents.

Earlier, the coastbound carriageway of the A2 was closed at Barham, near Canterbury after a crash involving a 3.5 tonne van and a lorry.

One person was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries. The road reopened at 2.20pm.
